Shop Technician (Part Time)

The Part Time (20-25 hours a week) Shop technician I is responsible for the general warehouse functions, basic industrial battery testing and preparation, and order fulfillment. They will regularly utilize tools and operate a sit-down forklift to complete daily tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and check in industrial batteries by visually inspecting, and tracking required details on forms and within computer systems
  • Change out damaged pallets as needed throughout the warehouse
  • Power wash, clean & neutralize industrial batteries
  • Lead or assist in the testing process for industrial batteries, including but not limited to; programing a charger, taking gravity and voltage readings, completing the testing of the battery utilizing a load bank, recording all test readings into an excel format and maintaining physical and electronic files
  • Prioritize internal and external customers following reports and instructions provided by supervisors and management
  • Prepare new product for shipment to customers, including pulling the product, installation of basic parts, packaging accessories, completing quality control inspections, and prepping for outbound shipping for company drivers and outside 3rd party freight
  • Provide quality control inspection of completed repairs to ensure they meet the company standards, are to the specifications of the order and have all the proper forms completed and turned in.
  • Pull product orders for various departments.
  • Work with all other stations in the warehouse and repair shop to ensure that orders are completed and shipped to meet deadlines
  • Assist in the loading and unloading of internal and external customers.
  • Organize the warehouse product and parts to maximize space and efficiency.
  • Maintain the workstation, tools, and equipment to meet safety requirements.
  • Daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning assignments throughout the warehouse
  • Regular use of a sit-down forklift and miscellaneous tools
  • Provide updates to the supervisor and manager on status of workload assigned
  • All other duties as required.

 

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Requires regular use of company-provided PPE (such as a respirator) which shall be worn in a proper manner at all times, whenever applicable.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a daily continuous basis without assistance. Heavier lifting/moving will be done with the assistance of either a mechanical device or another employee.
  • Able to stand for extended periods.
  • Able to frequently bend; twist; reach; stoop; kneel or crouch.
  • Manual dexterity for equipment operation or material manipulation.
  • This position requires working in a plant/warehouse environment.
  • Work environment contains harmful materials (such as lead/fiberglass). Periodic blood tests are required to monitor lead exposure levels, while the employee shall take all advisable precautions to reduce said exposure.

 

Education/Training:

  • High School graduate or equivalent, required, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and the internet. · Knowledge of basic tools and equipment.
  • Forklift Certified or willing to train.
  • Clean and current Driver's license (MVR check) in the applying State

 

Pay: $22/hr
