The General Service Manager / Director will lead and oversee all aspects of the company's service operations across four key departments:
- Field Service
- Ultracare
- Parts
- Shop
This is a strategic and hands-on leadership role responsible for driving profitability, operational efficiency, and team engagement. The successful candidate will directly manage department managers, oversee P&L performance for the entire service division, and ensure that service quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction meet the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and daily oversight to four department managers (Field Service, Ultracare, Parts, and Shop).
- Manage full Profit & Loss (P&L) for the service division, with accountability for revenue growth, cost control, and profitability.
- Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement, focusing on:
- Increasing billable hours and utilization rates
- Reducing unnecessary overtime
- Enhancing inventory management and control
- Collaborate closely with Accounting, Sales, and Operations to streamline cross-departmental communication and ensure alignment on goals.
- Develop and monitor key performance metrics for service delivery, technician productivity, and financial results.
- Build and maintain a motivated, high-performing team of 40+ technicians and support staff through mentorship, accountability, and recognition.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in service operations management, preferably within automotive, industrial, or equipment service industries.
- Proven experience managing large technical teams (40+ employees).
- Strong understanding of P&L management, budgeting, and operational efficiency improvement.
- Demonstrated success in process optimization and cost control initiatives.
- Familiarity with ERP/accounting systems and cross-functional collaboration with Sales and Operations teams.
- Military leadership experience or background in automotive service management highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred (equivalent experience considered).
