The Construction Foreman responsible for leading daily field operations across a variety of general construction projects, including concrete, framing, grading, and other structural or site-work disciplines. This role directly supervises crews, coordinates subcontractors, and ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and municipal requirements.
The Foreman serves as the point-of-contact between field teams, project management, inspectors, and clients, overseeing all jobsite execution while maintaining productivity, safety compliance, and workmanship standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise on-site construction crews across general building and civil projects, including concrete placement, forming, framing, site prep, and finishing work.
- Coordinate daily work activities and communicate project scope, priorities, and schedules to field personnel.
- Review plans and specifications to ensure correct construction methods and materials are being utilized.
- Ensure all work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, public works requirements, and project specifications.
- Manage jobsite logistics, including materials staging, equipment usage, and subcontractor coordination.
- Conduct site inspections to verify quality of workmanship and adherence to safety protocols.
- Interface with local agencies, inspectors, and project representatives as needed.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust manpower and workflows to maintain timelines.
- Identify and resolve field issues, constructability challenges, and safety concerns proactively.
- Participate in pre-construction planning and weekly coordination meetings with project leadership.
- Maintain daily reports documenting manpower, equipment usage, production quantities, safety meetings, and jobsite progress.
- Track project productivity, budgets, and change conditions in coordination with project managers.
- Enforce company safety policies and conduct daily safety briefings (Tailgates).
- Maintain jobsite orderliness and compliance.
- Assist with material procurement and equipment scheduling as required.
- Support project closeout activities and final inspections.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support project execution.
Required Skills
- Strong field leadership ability with experience managing crews and subcontractors.
- Expertise across general construction activities, especially:
- Concrete forming, placement, and finishing
- Structural and rough framing
- Site work and utility coordination
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Organizational and time-management skills to oversee multiple workstreams efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills with crews, supervisors, inspectors, and clients.
- Commitment to jobsite safety and quality standards.
- Track record of meeting schedules and maintaining production goals.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced and physically active environments.
- Travel to job sites
Education & Training
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- Additional technical or construction management training preferred but not required
- Proficiency with basic computer tools (MS Outlook, Excel, mobile reporting apps)
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record required
Experience Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a Foreman, Lead Carpenter, or Site Supervisor role within general construction
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with:
- Concrete work
- Framing and structural construction
- Civil or site-work operations
- Proven background supervising jobsite crews (in-house or subcontracted)
- Experience coordinating field operations across multiple active scopes
Pay: $35-$42
