The Tower Technician performs work related to the installation, repair and maintenance of cell phone towers.  They follow detailed protocols to ensure their own safety and those around them.

Responsibilities:
  • Installs, inspects, and maintains services for wireless radio and antenna systems on towers, rooftops, and other elevated structures.
  • Mounts antennas, including panels and microwave dishes, runs coax, applies connectors, sweep lines, and PIM test coax lines.
  • Installs required tower equipment, including, but not limited to, masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, remote radio units, cabling, and bolting.
  • Assembles different types of structures such as rooftops, monopoles, self-supports, and guide towers.  Installs power trunk lines.
  • Completes antenna installation of microwave parabolic 1-15 feet, VHF, UHF, cellular, and FM broadcast antennas.
  • Supports site cleanup and site upkeep as directed by supervisor and/or local management.
  • Loads, transports, and unloads tools, materials, and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Completes all required company documentation.
  • Extensive travel away from home area -- up to 75% of the time, covering weekends and extended time periods.

Work Environment:
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions located at but not limited to high traffic areas, remote mountain tops, basements & building rooftops.
Physical Requirements:
  • Superior physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 75 lbs. without assistance.
Education and Training:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to perform fiber and sweep testing, preferred.
  • Ability to operate aerial lifts, man lifts, skid steers, and aerial platform equipment, preferred.
  • Ability to operate power tools and hand tools, required.
  • Have or obtain, and maintain, OSHA 10 training card, required.
  • Have or obtain, and maintain, First Aid and CPR certification, required.
  • Have or obtain, and maintain, Authorized Climber & Competent Climber/Rescue certification from an accredited institution, required.
