The Tower Technician Lead has responsibility for the safety of personnel working on wireless sites in the performance of various duties related to tower operation.  They ensure that operatives remain productive while carrying out work in accordance with both company and legal standards.

  • Climbs and works on towers for the purpose of installing, replacing, and repairing DAS equipment.
  • Provides direction to the crew as required and oversees completion of tasks in an applicable timeframe.
  • Analyzes situations accurately and adopts an appropriate course of action.
  • Completes and submits appropriate paperwork.
  • Follows instructions accurately and completes assigned course of action.
  • Provides training to crew members.
  • Recognizes safety hazards and performs duties in a safe manner.

  • Work sites vary tremendously, from remote mountaintops to offshore platforms, from rooftops to basements, in multi-level buildings without elevator access, to work in confined quarters.
  • Outdoor climates vary with the territory.  Expect inclement weather, uneven terrain and other hazardous conditions. 
  • May be exposed to excessive noise; may be around moving machinery. 
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and gases.
  • Regularly drives or operates a range of motorized vehicles/equipment.
  • Transportation to/from sites may involve company vehicles, aircraft, cars, buses, boats or other forms of public and private transportation. 
  • Travel is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to climb up to 200 feet, following training and certification.
  • May be required to lift and carry 75 lbs. without assistance.
  • During a normal, long workday, may be required to bend, sit, squat, stand, crawl, walk, climb a step ladder, push/pull, kneel, handle objects with manual dexterity, reach above shoulder level, and use fine finger movements repeatedly for extended periods. 

Skills/Other:
  • Solid communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work well both in a team environment and independently.
  • Flexible schedule, as work requirements may extend beyond assigned, regular shift.

Education/Training:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable of the basic use and care of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
  • Certified in OSHA 10, strongly preferred.
  • Knowledgeable regarding Tower Safety, preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of the hazards associated with tower climbing and working on or near energized lines and equipment.

Technical Requirements:
  • Familiar with and able to operate aerial lifts, man lifts and aerial platform equipment, a plus.
  • Certified in RF Awareness, strongly preferred or will train.
